Hey there! Welcome to the Double U Blog. I’m Waleed Zuberi, and this is my personal portfolio and blog.
The Who Behind The What
I’ve been described as a generalist. Depending on the time of day, I’m a business and management student, writer, web developer, part-time hermit, hopeful thinker and all-round geek. I write fiction and (mostly) serious stuff for several (print & online) publications about various topics, most of which you will eventually be able to find here on this very site. I provide beautiful and effective web design, development and branding services under the banner of Double U Designs. Take a look at some of my work or get in touch for a project.
Still With Me?
I’m an ardent reader and usually have a couple of books going on simultaneously. My favorite book at the time of this writing is the absolutely awesome A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. I love figuring out how stuff works – or at least trying to. I have a modestly sized bucket list that I hope to complete before I’m unable to. I’m extremely dissatisfied with the education system and some day I will change it – or try to.
The Site
The Double U Blog is many things but also nothing specifically. It’s a website. A blog. Whatever that means.
The site was hand-crafted in the summer of 2010 using XHTML and CSS. The backend is powered by WordPress and some of the bells and whistles are thanks to the awesome jQuery. Some of the typefaces used across the site include Fh_Nicole by Dan Meyer and Museo by Jos Buivenga.
